​Job Announcement: Assistant/Associate Director of Music Ministry
Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish,
Cranberry Township/Glade Mills, PA

Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish is seeking a talented and collaborative  Assistant/Associate Director of Music Ministry (ADMM) to join our staff. The ideal candidate will be a skilled organist and a positive, organized professional who shares our passion for music ministry and excellent liturgy.


About Saint Mark the Evangelist Parish
Founded in July 2023 through a merger of the former Holy Sepulcher and Saint Kilian Parishes, Saint Mark's is a thriving parish home to over 18,000 members with an average age of 38 and an average weekly attendance of about 4,000. Our modern facilities and dedicated staff are committed to fostering a welcoming community through worship, education, service, and collaboration.


Primary Responsibilities
The ADMM will work closely with the Director of Music Ministry (DMM) to provide high-quality music ministry leadership for our parish.
  • Service Playing: Share responsibility for playing organ/piano at Sunday (Saturday anticipated), Solemnity, and special Masses, typically providing music for 3-4 of the seven accompanied weekend Masses.
  • Multi-Site Availability: Alternate playing between our two churches to serve our entire parish community.
  • Ensemble Duties: Direct parish bell choir (training will be provided if needed) or another parish ensemble; assist with the Chancel (Adult) Choir
  • Collaborative Ministry: Partner with the DMM to prepare weekly worship materials (worship aids, cantor binders, etc.); assist with the music program's administration and activities.
  • Special Events: Serve as the primary organist for larger, combined-ensemble events while the DMM conducts.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to additional responsibilities as assigned by the DMM based on the candidate's skills and the evolving needs of the music ministry.


 
Required Qualifications:
  • Musical Expertise: Exceptional organ performance and sight-reading skills.
  • Hymnody and Repertoire: Knowledge of Catholic hymnody and liturgical music from a variety of styles, genres, and time periods.
  • Liturgical Knowledge: A working understanding of the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar and worship practices.
  • Professional Attributes: A positive, self-disciplined, and organized individual who excels in a collaborative team environment.
  • Physical Abilities: Capable of lifting moderately heavy items (handbell cases, chairs, folding tables, etc.)
  • Diocesan Compliance: Ability to provide all required documentation and clearances required by the Diocese of Pittsburgh's Safe Environment Policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading vocal or instrumental ensembles.
·       Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and music notation and recording
           software (e.g., Sibelius, Dorico, Finale, Garage Band).
