St. Anne, Castle Shannon. Seeking a full-time Director of Music Ministry to serve a large, suburban parish in the South Hills of Pittsburgh (approximately 2300 families). Responsibilities include 5 Weekend Liturgies; all Holy Day Liturgies and Parish Sacramental celebrations; Adult Choir weekly rehearsals and liturgy (Sunday morning 10 a.m.) Adult Choir includes 35 members; rehearsals and Sunday 10 a.m. Liturgy with choir runs September through Pentecost. Additional responsibilities include training and scheduling of cantors; funeral and wedding liturgies; Advent and Lenten Penance Services, weekly School Masses (2 times a week); and start-up of a Children's Choir. 1. The goals for the Director of Music and Organist are:
To help develop a prayerful, singing assembly through celebration, preparation, and evaluation, through education and personal ministry. With the cooperation and assistance of all the parish ministries, the Director of Music and Organist will support the Gospel message through song, and challenge the congregation to live it more fully.
2. The Director of Music and Organist will be responsible for all the music associated with worship.
A. The regular liturgical celebrations will be: Eucharistic celebrations on 52 weekends –
Saturday, 4 p.m. vigil Mass; and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses.
B. Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil.
C. Holy Days of Obligation.
D. Ash Wednesday, feasts and solemnities, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, All Souls Day, Thanksgiving Day.
E. Communal Sacramental celebrations of Confirmation, First Eucharist, Reconciliation (2); and Anointing of the Sick (2).
F. Wedding and Funeral Liturgies.
G. Stations of the Cross, and several additional Masses and prayer services.
3. The Director of Music and Organist will be responsible:
A. to start at least one choir for the parish.
B. to recruit, train, schedule, and rehearse parish cantors year-round.
C. to recruit, train, schedule, and rehearse parish choirs year-round.
D. to recruit, train, schedule, and rehearse volunteer instrumentals periodically throughout the year.
E. to rehearse musicians brought in to participate in our liturgy.
F. to communicate musical selections to each presider.
G. to develop an ongoing plan for the implementation of new assembly repertoire connected with our worship aid.
H. to act as a consultant for those who are planning weddings.
I. to catalog existing and newly purchased music sheets, books and hymnals.
J. to coordinate and oversee tuning/maintenance of the church music instruments (organ) at Saint Peter and Our Lady, Queen of Peace Churches.
K. to perform other duties as specified by the pastor.
4. The Director of Music and Organist is directly responsible to the Pastor.
5. The Director of Music and Organist will be responsible to attend meetings of the following: Parish Staff, Pastoral Council, Liturgy Committee.
6. The Director of Music and Organist will be responsible for participating in the parish budget process by:
A. Preparing a yearly music budget.
B. Submitting a budget to the Pastor and the Parish Finance Council.
C. Participating in the budget revision process.
